This Birmingham, Alabama watercolor print shows the Vulcan statue raising his spear on a stone pedestal tower, looking out over downtown Birmingham from Red Mountain. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Birmingham, Alabama, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines define the statue's muscles, the blocks of the pedestal and the windows of the towers below. The forest canopy is layered in orange, yellow and green, and the lower edge melts into orange, red and moss drips with splatter. Moss green and early autumn orange lead the palette, with sandstone beige, the metal gray of the statue, brick red downtown and violet-blue hills. Vulcan stands on the tapering tower at the left, the downtown Birmingham skyline spreads across the valley on the right, and the Vulcan Park overlook with its stone railing, rocks and fall trees fills the foreground. The high viewpoint looks down from the mountain into the valley. "BIRMINGHAM" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Freight train below. A long freight train runs through the valley beneath the overlook.
- Visitors at the rail. Small figures stand at the stone railing taking in the view.
- Anvil detail. An iron anvil rests beside the statue, drawn in fine ink.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.

Styling it at home
The orange, green and brown palette suits a den, a home office or a living room with warm leather and rust-colored textiles. It makes a fitting gift for someone raised in Birmingham or a reminder of the view from Vulcan Park.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Birmingham, Alabama? No. It is an artistic interpretation of the view from Vulcan Park, and the statue's color and some details are simplified.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "BIRMINGHAM," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
