This Berkeley watercolor print shows Sather Tower rising above the UC Berkeley campus, with San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge beyond. It is a watercolor-style interpretation of the California city, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The granite tower is washed in pale gray-white with violet-blue shadows, and fine brown ink outlines its clock faces, belfry, red tile roofs and columns. Sather Tower stands tall on the middle right above white Beaux-Arts halls with red roofs, and the city of Berkeley spreads down to the water. San Francisco Bay fills the background, with the Golden Gate Bridge on the left and the San Francisco skyline on the right. Golden grass, oaks and a hiking path cover the late-spring hillside in the foreground. Olive oak green and California gold lead the palette, with bay blue and the bridge's red-orange as accents. "BERKELEY" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Campus-to-bridge panorama. One wide view takes in the Campanile, the city and the Golden Gate Bridge across the bay.
- Golden hills. Grass turning gold gives the foreground a warm California glow.
- Sails on the bay. Small white sailboats dot the flat blue water below the skyline.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Gold, olive and bay blue suit a sunny living room, a home office or a hallway with light oak floors. It is a thoughtful gift for a UC Berkeley graduate, a Bay Area transplant or a family moving away from the East Bay.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Berkeley? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Berkeley's hills and bay view, with distances and buildings arranged for the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "BERKELEY," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
