This Bamberg watercolor print shows the Altes Rathaus, the Old Town Hall, on its small island in the Regnitz River, with the fishermen's houses of Little Venice on the right and Bamberg Cathedral on the hill behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Bamberg, not an exact view of the town.
About the artwork
Fine brown ink draws the domed gate tower, the yellow half-timbered house jutting over the water and the Baroque statues on the bridges. The painted murals on the walls are pale washes of earth tones, and the white water at the weir is bare paper. Ochre murals, yellow timber and Regnitz blue lead the palette, with terracotta roofs, red roses and verdigris cathedral spires. Two arched stone bridges join the banks around the town hall, and a weir and flower beds fill the foreground. This summer view is seen from the riverbank downstream. "BAMBERG" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Swans and rowboat. Two white swans and a small rowboat with three people share the river.
- Little Venice houses. Fishermen's houses with flower balconies have boats tied at their doors.
- Painted town hall. Soft mural colors cover the town hall walls.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Ochre, blue and rose tones fit a cottage-style living room, kitchen or breakfast nook. It is a charming gift for a traveler who explored Franconia or someone who grew up in Bamberg.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Bamberg? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Bamberg, and the viewpoint is shifted to the riverbank so the town hall, bridges and Little Venice fit together.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "BAMBERG," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
