This Arenal Volcano watercolor print shows the steep, symmetrical cone rising beyond the blue-green water of Lake Arenal, its summit touched by a wisp of cloud. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the Costa Rica landmark, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The volcano's slopes are washed in gray-brown and pale violet, with fine ink lines tracing old lava channels. The lake is teal with streaks of white paper for reflections, and the rainforest is built from many layers of green. The view crosses the lake from its eastern shore, with the cone centered in the background, forested peninsulas winding through the water and a pasture with a red tin-roofed farm and cattle on the right. A flowering red-orange tree, bananas and tall grasses frame the left foreground, while the Tilarán mountains fade into blue haze. It is the green dry season with a bright, clear morning sky. Green, yellow and red splashes run off the lower left into a white paper border. "ARENAL" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Classic cone shape. The near-perfect volcano sits right at the center, easy to recognize from across the room.
- Lake and farm life. Red and yellow kayaks, a fishing boat and grazing cattle add small stories to the scene.
- Warm foreground blooms. A red-orange flowering tree adds a warm accent to the cool greens and teals.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Its forest greens and lake teal suit a living room with natural textures, a bedroom with linen bedding or a study with wood shelves. It makes a thoughtful gift for someone back from a Costa Rica adventure or a stay near La Fortuna.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Arenal Volcano? No. It is an artistic watercolor interpretation of Arenal Volcano and Lake Arenal. Hills, farms and shoreline are simplified to fit the vertical layout.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "ARENAL," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
