This Abiquiu, New Mexico watercolor print shows Cerro Pedernal, a flat-topped blue-grey mesa standing alone on the horizon above the Chama valley, seen from Ghost Ranch. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the desert landscape, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The cliffs are built from banded washes of brick red, orange and cream, fine brown-grey ink outlines the rock ledges, the Chimney Rock spire and junipers, and the sagebrush is transparent silver-green dots. Brick red and orange cliffs, pale cream, silvery sage and violet-blue distance set the palette, with the blue of Abiquiu Lake as a cool accent. The view looks south from the Chimney Rock trail, with Cerro Pedernal centered at the top, the banded Ghost Ranch cliffs and Chimney Rock on the right, and Abiquiu Lake among juniper-dotted badlands in the middle ground. Red rock ledges, piñon, juniper and sagebrush line the trail in the foreground, and low mesas roll away under tall white late-summer clouds. Orange and yellow drips fall from both lower edges, with sandy-toned splatter around the paper. "ABIQUIU" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.

Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Abiquiu, New Mexico? No. It is an artistic, stylized watercolor interpretation of Cerro Pedernal and the Ghost Ranch cliffs, and some shapes are simplified for the composition.

Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
