Living Room Wall Art

What's in the collection

A living room wall is the largest uninterrupted surface in most homes and the one guests look at longest, so it can carry more than any other room. That is the principle behind this selection. Wide formats that fill the span above a sofa rather than floating in the middle of it. Colour with enough weight to survive a room full of furniture and a television. And compositions built around one strong element, so the piece still resolves when seen from across the floor. Quieter rooms are covered by our bedroom wall art and office wall art selections.

One house style

Scale is where most living room walls go wrong. A piece hung above a sofa should span roughly two thirds of the sofa's width; anything much narrower reads as an afterthought. Leave a hand's width between the top of the sofa back and the bottom of the frame. If one piece is not wide enough, a pair or a row of three at equal spacing solves it and often looks more deliberate. Hang the centre of the group at eye height for someone standing, and the whole wall settles. A row of three is built the way a gallery wall group is, and the wall art size guide converts sofa width into print size.

Sizes, paper and framing

Every design is offered on archival matte paper and on matte canvas, either stretched on a wooden bar or set in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. Size options are listed on each product page, including A-series sizes for European frames where the format allows. Printed with pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
