This State College watercolor print shows Old Main at Penn State University at the top of a long sloping lawn, with Mount Nittany in fall color behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of State College, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Golden-brown limestone is washed in lightly, with fine ink lines on the columns and clock tower. Orange and red leaves are layered thickly in wet washes on both sides, the far mountains are stacked in blue-violet, and the left edge runs into red-orange drips and splatter around a white paper border. Old Main sits at center with its white-columned portico and belfry rising into the upper third, while crossing paths lead up the Old Main lawn past slate-roofed stone halls. A low stone wall with posts and lamps runs across the foreground, and wooded ridges glow in mid-autumn. "STATE COLLEGE" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Students on the wall. Students sit along a low stone wall while others bike and walk the sidewalk.
- Crossing lawn paths. Diagonal paths cut across the long lawn and draw the eye up to the bell tower.
- Orange and limestone. Burnt orange foliage, green grass and warm limestone carry the palette.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Autumn orange, green and limestone beige suit a dorm, a home office, a den or a guest room with warm wood. It is a natural graduation gift or a present for a proud alum who still visits Happy Valley in the fall.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of State College? No. It is an artistic interpretation of State College, made to capture the campus mood in autumn rather than an exact view.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "STATE COLLEGE," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
