This Sanibel Island watercolor print shows the iron skeleton Sanibel Island Lighthouse rising among palms above the shell-covered beach at Point Ybel. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the island's east end, not an exact view.
About the artwork
The lighthouse framework is drawn in fine brown ink around a dark central stair column. Shells are glazed in transparent pink and orange with ink outlines, small clear waves are left as paper, and the edges fade into pink-violet and blue washes with long drips at both lower corners. The palette is sea blue, sand beige and sea-grape green, accented by coral-pink shells and red sea-grape leaves. Looking northwest along Point Ybel, the tall lighthouse stands in the middle ground on the right among palms and shrubs, the low Sanibel Causeway crosses San Carlos Bay in the background on the left, the surf line curves into the foreground, and thick shells and sea grape fill the lower right. Soft sun points to a mild winter day. "SANIBEL ISLAND" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Shell-covered foreground. Detailed shells along the tide line read like a natural-history illustration.
- Shellers and anglers. A shell seeker bends with a mesh bag while a group casts lines at the water's edge.
- Causeway on the bay. The low causeway and a white sailboat give the bay a sense of distance.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Coral pink and sea blue suit a bathroom, a beach-cottage bedroom or a sunroom with white wicker and seashell decor. A natural gift for a dedicated sheller or a family who winters on Sanibel.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Sanibel Island? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Point Ybel and the lighthouse, with the shells and shoreline arranged for the composition.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "SANIBEL ISLAND," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
