A Japanese wave landscape print with Mount Fuji tucked into the distance, made for a living room wall. Hills rise in layers that curl like waves, pines dot the slopes, and a river winds through in red, teal, yellow and beige. JAPANESE GRASSLANDS WITH WAVES is lettered on the sheet. It turns land into sea and back again.
About the artwork
Red, teal, yellow and beige are laid in flat bands, and each layer of hill is shaped like a rolling wave. Pines break up the curves, a river winds between them, and a small Mount Fuji sits far back under the clouds. A white frame surrounds the scene, and the lettering reads JAPANESE GRASSLANDS WITH WAVES. At 3,776 m, Fuji is Japan's highest peak, though here it is kept small so the hills can lead. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- Hills drawn as waves. The layered slopes curl like water, a playful twist on a land view.
- Fuji as a small surprise. Japan's highest peak sits far in the distance, something people notice on a second look.
- Red and teal with warm neutrals. The beige and yellow calm the red and teal, so it fits rooms with wood and linen.
- Tall, layered depth. The portrait format stacks hill after hill, drawing the eye back toward the mountain.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Set it in a living room with warm beige, off-white or muted teal walls, above a console table or a pair of armchairs at 24" x 36". Terracotta pots, a teal throw or a red-brown leather chair all echo the palette. For a tall wall beside the stairs or a doorway, 30" x 40" lets the layered hills read clearly. A natural wood floating frame suits the beige tones. Pair it with a small seigaiha wave pattern print to repeat the wave idea.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is Mount Fuji in this print? Yes, a small Mount Fuji sits in the distance behind the layered hills. The hills and river are the main subject.
What size suits a tall living room wall? 30" x 40" suits tall walls and stairwell spots. Above a console or armchairs, 24" x 36" is usually enough.
Which cushions or throws match it? Teal, rust red or mustard textiles pick up the print's colors. Keep them solid so the patterned hills stay the focus.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
