A colorful Japanese wave print for a living room with some energy to it. Layers of waves in yellow, navy, turquoise and coral are topped with white foam, and an orange coral branch adds a second shape among them. HAMON, ripple, names the piece. It feels bright and lively without tipping into loud.
About the artwork
The palette is warm and cool at once: yellow and coral orange against navy and turquoise, with white foam on the crests. The waves are built in layers, woodblock-style, and an orange coral branch breaks up the pattern. HAMON is spelled out in Latin letters, and a green label in the right corner carries the kanji for ripple. A longer line of Japanese characters completes the lettering. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- Four colors in balance. Yellow and coral warm the navy and turquoise, so the print suits both warm and cool rooms.
- A coral branch among the waves. The orange coral gives the eye something other than water, which keeps the pattern from repeating.
- A simple word to name it. HAMON means ripple, and the kanji label in the corner says the same.
- A green finishing touch. The small green label in the corner adds one more color, and it ties in easily with houseplants.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Give it a living room wall with white, warm white or pale gray paint, above a navy, mustard or cream sofa. The coral and yellow pick up rattan, cane or light wood furniture, and the turquoise works with a teal cushion or glass vase. Choose 24" x 36" over a sofa or 18" x 24" above a console. A white solid wood floating frame keeps it fresh. Pair it with a large leafy plant beside it to echo the green label.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What does HAMON mean? HAMON is the Japanese word for ripple, and the green label in the right corner shows the same word in kanji.
Which sofa colors go with this print? Navy, mustard, cream and gray all work, since the print already holds yellow, navy, turquoise and coral. A plain sofa lets the colors lead.
Is it bold enough to be the main piece in a room? Yes. With four strong colors and white foam, it holds a living room wall on its own at 24" x 36".
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
