This Cathedral Cove poster stands you inside the cove's great sandstone arch and looks out through it. Beyond the shaded cavern mouth a tree-topped sea stack rises from glittering turquoise water, a pale gold beach curves away to the left, and a line of soft blue hills sits on the horizon under a clear summer sky.
About the artwork
A flat vector travel-poster illustration, built from layered screen-print shapes with grainy, sunlit texture rather than photographic detail. The palette is warm caramel and toffee brown for the arch walls, bleached cream and apricot for the sand, bright cyan and deep sapphire for the sea, with dark bottle-green foliage overhanging the top left. The rock frame wraps three sides of the picture so the bright cove reads as a keyhole in the middle. Across the top the poster prints COROMANDEL in tall white capitals, with NEW ZEALAND centred beneath. A clean white margin frames all four sides. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- A natural frame inside the frame. The arch draws the eye straight through to the sea stack, which makes the print feel deep rather than flat.
- Warm browns meet bright cyan. That contrast is rare in coastal art and stops the piece feeling washed out.
- Sunlight you can almost feel. Dappled shade on the sand and sparkle on the water carry a midsummer afternoon.
- A memento of a walk-in beach. The cove is reached on foot or by boat, and the view through the arch is what people come for.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Caramel rock and apricot sand make this an easy match for terracotta, camel and warm-white walls, and it glows against the cream panelling in the oak-cabinet photograph. Espresso and walnut frames pick up the darkest brown in the arch, while natural oak keeps the whole thing sunny. It earns its place in a pine-lined cabin corner, a sandy-toned bathroom, or a reading nook with a jute rug and stacked books.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a sofa or a bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" holds the wall. For a gallery grid or a desk shelf, 12" x 18" and 16" x 24" sit comfortably. A2 and A3 fit standard European frames.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas ship unframed. Framed canvas arrives in a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural, ready to hang.
Why does the poster say Coromandel and not Cathedral Cove? The printed wording names the wider peninsula, COROMANDEL / NEW ZEALAND, while the scene itself is the arch and sea stack at Cathedral Cove.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
