An Alabama state flower print built like a 1¢ postage stamp that never existed: the state name struck in heavy letterpress across the top, a botanical engraving at the centre, and The Yellowhammer State set below the frame.
About the artwork
One ink, one paper tint. The whole stamp is printed in brick red on a peach ground, the way a nineteenth-century definitive was, and the flower is drawn as a fine engraved line study: two flared trumpet-shaped blooms on a leafy upright stem, with hatched shading at the base. A fern ornament fills the lower-left corner and the 1¢ denomination sits in a circle opposite it. The perforated edge is rendered as real die-cut scallops against a plain cream sheet, so the stamp reads as an object resting on paper rather than a flat graphic. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- It says Alabama without a map or a monogram. The Yellowhammer State line carries the state quietly, so the print works as decor first and a souvenir second.
- One colour, so it never fights a room. Brick red on peach reads as a warm neutral from across the room and as detailed engraving up close.
- Built as a set of fifty. Every state shares the same frame, denomination and typography, so two or six of them line up with no mismatch.
- A gift that lands for someone who moved away. Home state on the wall, without the usual souvenir kitsch.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Brick red on peach is the warmest pairing in the series, so it settles into rooms that already lean terracotta, clay or unbleached linen rather than cool greys. It is a natural entryway print at 12" x 18" beside a coat rail, and it holds a kitchen wall above open shelving where the peach picks up brass and raw oak. If you are hanging more than one state, put it next to another warm ink such as Georgia or Arkansas and keep the cool blues on a separate wall.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? Above a console, desk or shelf, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Can I collect more than one state? Yes. All fifty share one format and one denomination, so any combination hangs as a matched set.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Damage, defects & care
Every piece is printed for you after you order, so we cannot take a print back for a change of mind — please check the size and material first. Our Size Guide shows every size drawn to scale.
If it arrives damaged, misprinted or simply wrong, email us within 14 days with photos of the piece and the packaging. We reprint and reship it free, and there is nothing to send back.
Keep artwork out of direct sunlight. Dust paper prints with a clean, dry cloth; wipe canvas and framed canvas gently with a clean, damp cloth. Handle paper prints by the edges until they are framed. More care tips are in our Material Guide.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
