A woodblock-style Japanese wave print for a bathroom that should feel like a pause. Indigo and cream waves curl over each other in tight, dense coils inside a thin border. The lettering, YASURAGI with 安らぎ, means peace, which is exactly what the room is for.
About the artwork
Only two colors appear: deep indigo blue and cream. The waves curl densely across the image in the woodblock style of ukiyo-e, indigo against cream, so each coil reads clearly even at a distance. A thin border frames the scene and gives it a finished edge. The lettering pairs YASURAGI with 安らぎ, which means peace. Nothing else competes with the water, so the rhythm of the curls is the whole composition. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- Deep indigo and cream. With two colors only, the print holds together next to white tile, chrome or brass without competing.
- Dense, curling water. The waves are packed tight, so the print reads as pattern from the door and as water up close.
- A word for the room. 安らぎ means peace, a fitting word to hang where the day starts and ends.
- Border included. A thin drawn border frames the waves, so it looks finished as a poster or in a floating frame.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
This fits a bathroom with white, cream or pale blue walls and white fixtures, where the indigo becomes the strongest color in the room. Over the toilet or a towel hook, 12" x 18" works; a longer wall beside a tub suits 16" x 24". A black or espresso solid wood floating frame sharpens the indigo. Pair it with indigo-dyed or striped cotton towels to carry the blue down the wall.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What does 安らぎ mean? It means peace, and the print shows it with YASURAGI in Latin letters.
Should I frame it or hang it as a poster? The drawn border already finishes the image, so it can hang as a poster. A solid wood floating frame in black or espresso adds weight and protects the edges.
What wall colors suit indigo? Cream, white and pale blue let the indigo lead. Warm gray also works if the fixtures are white.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Matte canvas

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
