A Yayoi Kusama inspired red face green eyes print in a portrait layout. A red face with large green eyes fills the centre of a violet-blue panel. Cream dots cover the forehead, cheeks, neck and shoulders, while orange and yellow circles scatter across the surrounding background beside a short black bob.
About the artwork
The green irises and black pupils create the strongest point of focus in the design. Warm red lids outline the pale eye shapes, making them stand apart from the dotted face. There is no separately drawn nose or mouth, so the expression depends on the eyes and the simple silhouette of the head. The cream spots change size across the face and body, while broader orange-yellow circles animate the violet field. A wide cream border and bold black heading give the vivid portrait a defined outer frame.
The design includes YAYOI KUSAMA, 草間彌生 and JAPAN / TOKYO. Any lettering is part of the printed design. Names, dates and institutional wording are decorative elements, not a statement of exhibition history or affiliation. This is an independent print inspired by the style of Yayoi Kusama. It is not an original artwork, reproduction, or licensed product, and it is not made by, sold by, or affiliated with the artist or their studio.
Why you'll love it
- A clear central subject. Large green eyes remain distinct within the red and cream dotted portrait.
- Colour with a visual anchor. The black bob and cream border organise the brighter red, orange and violet areas.
- A gift for a colourful home. A bold portrait for someone who enjoys expressive art and playful interiors.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Make it a focal piece above a low cabinet or beside a plain reading chair. A black frame connects to the hair and pupils; a natural frame gives the saturated colours a warmer setting. Echo the green eyes with one small accessory, or keep the room neutral and let the portrait supply the colour. Pair it with an open line drawing rather than another face-filled composition.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is the frame shown in the room photos included? The room photos show styling examples. Paper prints arrive rolled and unframed; choose a framed canvas option for a solid wood floating frame.
Are the background dots the same as those on the face? No. The face and shoulders have cream dots, while the violet-blue background carries orange and yellow circles.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
