This Watkins Glen watercolor print shows Rainbow Falls spilling from a mossy cliff beside a stone arch bridge in the gorge at Watkins Glen State Park, New York. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of the glen, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Grey-brown ink draws each stacked layer of shale and each carved stone step, and the cascades are left as white paper. The plunge pool is a clear green wash, with ferns and moss in green and gold. Rainbow Falls drops on the right beside the single-arch stone bridge in the middle ground, seen looking up the glen along the stone-paved Gorge Trail. Stone stairs and curved shale layers line the left, a chain of small cascades runs through the center, and hemlock and maple trees crown the rim. Early-summer ferns set the season, and the left edge melts into long drips. "WATKINS GLEN" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Layered shale walls. Thin stacked rock layers are drawn line by line, giving the gorge its carved, curving texture.
- People on the bridge. Three people stand on the arch bridge while a hiker climbs the stone steps.
- Cool gorge greens. Moss and fern greens meet slate grey and a green pool, warmed by brown stone and white water.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Cool greens and greys suit a bathroom, a hallway or a bedroom with a natural, woodland feel. It makes a nice gift for an upstate New Yorker or someone who remembers walking the Gorge Trail.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Watkins Glen? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Watkins Glen; the falls are shown as a stronger flow than the real fine veil, and a few details are rearranged.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "WATKINS GLEN," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
