This Vinicunca Rainbow Mountain poster stands on the golden grass slope hikers cross to reach the viewpoint. Pale blue-grey boulders lie scattered through the dry tussock, and beyond them the ridge falls away in bands of rust red, mustard ochre, turquoise and cream that run down to a sharp apex. A glaciated grey peak closes the horizon.
About the artwork
Drawn as a flat vector illustration with fine striped linework and gentle gradient shading, in the manner of a mid-century park poster. The mineral bands are the whole palette: rust red and burnt sienna, mustard ochre, turquoise and chalky cream, laid over golden-brown grass and cool blue snowfields under a pale sky. VINICUNCA is set in wide white capitals across the top, with PERU centred beneath. Portrait format, 2:3 ratio.
Why you'll love it
- Colour with a reason — the stripes are mineral layers, not decoration, so the print stays natural.
- Rust meets turquoise — a warm and cool pairing that is hard to find in landscape prints.
- Depth in three steps — boulder-strewn foreground, striped ridge, then snow peaks behind.
- For high-altitude hikers — a reminder of the thin-air trek above Cusco.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The rust and ochre stripes glow against a chalk white or oatmeal wall, and the turquoise band keeps them from going too warm. Try it on a charcoal or deep navy wall for real contrast. Pair with black metal frames, a flatweave kilim rug and brass accents. It works over a low sideboard in a hallway, or in a teenager's room where the colour has space to be loud.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Why is the mountain striped? The bands in this print follow the coloured mineral layers of the Vinicunca ridge in the Peruvian Andes, red and rust from iron-rich clay, ochre and cream from sandstone, and a turquoise-green seam of chlorite running through the middle of the slope.
What size should I get? Above a sofa or bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" holds the wall. For a desk, shelf or gallery grouping, 12" x 18" and 16" x 24" are the easiest to place.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas arrive unframed. The framed canvas option adds a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
