A Van Gogh self-portrait print: the artist turned three-quarters to the left, red beard and blue-green eyes against a pale blue ground that swirls like slow water. Set as an exhibition poster with Vincent van Gogh and Self-Portrait in serif type below.
About the artwork
The background is not a backdrop. Van Gogh worked it in continuous curling ribbons that rise around the head and then repeat, longer and straighter, down the folds of the jacket, so figure and air are painted with the same nervous rhythm and almost the same colour. Only the face breaks the scheme: sallow, closely modelled, with the beard laid in sharp orange-red strokes that are the one warm note on the sheet. A blue contour holds the shoulder against the ground. The eyes are the fixed point everything else moves around.
Why you'll love it
- A face that holds a room. Direct eye contact makes it a natural single statement over a desk or console.
- Quiet colour. Blues and greys sit calmly against white, grey or greige walls.
- Anchors a gallery wall. One portrait among landscapes or still lifes gives the group a centre.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8\" x 12\" through 30\" x 40\", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12\" x 16\" to 30\" x 40\".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12\" x 16\" to 30\" x 40\".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Give it a wall at eye level: a home office, a hallway, the space beside a bookshelf. Black or espresso frames pull out the jacket; white keeps it airy. At 18\" x 24\" it reads as a study, at 24\" x 36\" as a statement.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Which self-portrait is this? The poster names only the artist and the title, so we describe what is on the sheet rather than assigning it a date.
Is this an original painting? No. It is a modern gallery-style reproduction printed to order, not an original work and not an officially licensed museum edition.
Does the colour look grey in person? It prints as a soft blue-grey with the beard clearly warm against it.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Damage, defects & care
Every piece is printed for you after you order, so we cannot take a print back for a change of mind — please check the size and material first. Our Size Guide shows every size drawn to scale.
If it arrives damaged, misprinted or simply wrong, email us within 14 days with photos of the piece and the packaging. We reprint and reship it free, and there is nothing to send back.
Keep artwork out of direct sunlight. Wipe framed canvas with a dry, soft cloth. Handle paper prints by the edges until they are framed.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
