This Valle de la Luna Atacama poster opens on a pale salt-crusted ledge in the foreground, cracked into slabs with cool blue shadows in every seam. Beyond it, copper and terracotta ridges run in sharp serrated spines toward a flat-topped mesa on the left. A wide bleached plain carries the eye back to two snow-dusted volcanic cones on the horizon, under a pale blue sky streaked with thin cloud.
About the artwork
Drawn in a screen-print style, built from dense hatched lines rather than smooth gradients, so every ridge reads as carved. The palette is a two-way split: copper, rust and burnt orange across the rock, chalk white and cold blue in the crust and shadows, with a soft blue haze on the far volcanoes. The name printed on the artwork is ATACAMA in white capitals, with CHILE below it, rather than the valley name. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Copper against cold blue — the rust rock and blue shadows make the print glow in warm lamplight.
- Line work up close — the hatching rewards a short viewing distance, so it works in a narrow room.
- An unusual landscape — eroded spines and salt crust look nothing like a standard mountain print.
- Volcanoes on the horizon — two pale cones give the composition a quiet far point.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Because the rock is copper and the shadows are cold, this one holds its own on a chalk white or soft blue-grey wall, where warmer paints would flatten it. Black steel shelving, ribbed glass and a dark walnut frame sharpen the line work. A single terracotta pot or a dried grass stem picks up the rust without repeating it. Good above a stairwell landing or on a study wall facing a window.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Where is this in the Atacama? The eroded ridges and salt crust are Valle de la Luna, the Moon Valley formation just west of San Pedro de Atacama in northern Chile, with the volcanic cordillera behind.
What size should I get? Above a sofa or bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" holds the wall. For a desk, shelf or gallery grouping, 12" x 18" and 16" x 24" are the easiest to place.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas arrive unframed. The framed canvas option adds a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
