A Temple of Heaven travel poster looking up the marble stairways of the ceremonial park in Beijing, China, to the round hall with its three stacked roofs of deep blue tile. Carved white balustrades climb in tiers and dark cypress trees stand at the right edge.
About the artwork
Flat planes with dense engraved line work in the stone. The hall sits high as three slate-blue conical roofs, banded with fine dark lines and topped by a gilded knob, over tiers of red and gold and a vermilion drum. The lower two thirds are marble: panels carved with cloud scrolls, a dragon-head spout at the left, and broad grey-white steps receding to a paved terrace. Captioned BEIJING above CHINA in white capitals.
Why you'll love it
- An unusual pairing: deep cobalt and vermilion on a field of cool grey stone.
- The rising steps give an upward pull that suits a tall wall or narrow gap.
- Museum-grade paper or matte canvas; carved detail stays crisp at every size.
- A calm subject for anyone who prefers symmetry over busy scenery.
Where it works at home
Cool grey stone fills most of the picture, so it behaves like a neutral: a bedroom, a landing, or a stairwell where the climbing steps echo the real ones. Against pale grey or off-white the blue roof reads as one clean accent.
Sizes and materials
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Thirteen sizes are available, from 8 x 12 inches up to a 30 x 40 inch statement piece, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. Every piece is made to order.
Shipping and care
Each piece is printed and finished after the order is placed, then shipped in protective packaging — paper prints rolled in a rigid tube, canvas and framed canvas boxed with corner guards. Keep the artwork out of direct sunlight and wipe framed canvas with a dry, soft cloth. Paper prints are best handled by the edges until they are framed.
Questions
Which material should I choose? Paper is the most affordable option and lets you pick your own frame. Matte canvas adds depth and needs no glass. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang and is the usual choice for a feature wall.
Will the colours match what I see on screen? Printing is colour-managed, so the artwork stays very close to the preview. Paper reads slightly softer than canvas, which holds a touch more contrast.
How is this different from the other two Beijing prints in the range? Each Beijing design is a different site. This one is the round, blue-roofed ceremonial hall in the park south of the old city, reached by marble stairways among cypress trees. The Forbidden City print shows the palace itself: rectangular halls, golden roofs and red walls around a stone courtyard. The Mutianyu print shows the Great Wall on ridges outside the city.
