This Sugarloaf Mountain Rio poster is drawn almost entirely in blue. Glittering water fills the lower half, broken by small white sailboats and a spur of dark boulders up the right side. The rounded granite dome rises in the centre with a single red cable car on the wire beside it, and a thin band of pale city buildings and layered mountains closes the horizon.
About the artwork
A flat vector screen print built as a near-monochrome duotone. Everything sits in one blue family, from ink and petrol in the shadowed rock to cobalt water and a pale wash of sky, with white kept for sails, foam and flecks of sun on the bay. The lone red cable car is the only warm note. RIO DE JANEIRO and BRAZIL are set in white capitals at the top. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- One colour, done properly — the blue duotone reads as graphic art rather than a photo.
- A single red accent — the small cable car gives the eye one place to land.
- Water with texture — white flecks make the bay shimmer up close.
- Calm subject — rock, sailboats and open water suit a quiet study or bedroom.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Deep cobalt and ink blue hold their own on a mid-grey, navy or crisp white wall, and look sharpest with cool metals rather than brass. A black steel shelf, charcoal linen and a pale wool rug suit it. Over a desk it pairs with a walnut top and one white ceramic piece. In a bedroom, a slim black frame keeps the duotone tight.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What is the small red shape near the peak? A cable car crossing to the granite dome, the only non-blue element in the print. This is one of three Rio views here: the others are a city panorama from the forested ridge with the hilltop Christ statue over Guanabara Bay, and a Copacabana Beach view down the wave-patterned mosaic promenade and curve of sand, both in full colour.
What size should I get? Above a sofa or bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" holds the wall. For a desk, shelf or gallery grouping, 12" x 18" and 16" x 24" are the easiest to place.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas arrive unframed. The framed canvas option adds a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
Paper weight, inks, frame details and care are all in our Material Guide.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
