This Merida travel poster stands on the edge of the main square looking along the arcade. In the foreground, two white and pale blue park benches sit on warm terracotta paving under a broad shade tree. Along the right run buttermilk and sky-blue buildings with arched doorways, wrought-iron balconies and potted plants. A tall pale stone bell tower rises above the rooftops at the left.
About the artwork
The illustration is flat vector work with crisp edges and long, hard-edged shadows: the tree throws a lace of blue-grey shade across the paving, and every arch, cornice and balcony rail is drawn as a clean shape. The palette pairs warm buttermilk, cream and terracotta with a strong sky blue facade, deep green foliage, and a flat teal sky that keeps the whole thing calm. The composition uses one-point perspective, the paving and the arcade both running back to a low vanishing point. The lettering at the top reads MERIDA above MEXICO. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- An unhurried square — empty benches and deep shade give this print a quiet, early-morning feeling rather than a crowd scene.
- Warm and cool balanced — terracotta paving and buttermilk walls on one side, sky blue and teal on the other.
- Architecture drawn properly — the arcade, iron balconies and the tiered bell tower are all built from clean, readable shapes.
- Shade as a subject — the dappled tree shadow across the paving is as much of the picture as the buildings are.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Buttermilk walls, terracotta paving and that flat teal sky make this the warmest print of the Yucatan group, and it comes alive on a cream, sand or soft ochre wall rather than a cool grey one. A natural or white frame keeps the arcade looking sunlit; espresso wood leans into the ironwork and the tree trunk. It is a good fit above a sideboard in a dining room or in an entryway, where the receding paving gives a narrow space some depth. Terracotta pots, aged brass and a woven runner echo the colours already in the picture.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Why does the print say Merida and not Plaza Grande? The lettering carries the city name only. The scene itself is the main square, with its shaded walkway, benches and arcaded buildings, and the bell tower of the church that stands on it.
What size should I get? Above a sofa or bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" holds the wall. For a desk, shelf or gallery grouping, 12" x 18" and 16" x 24" are the easiest to place.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas arrive unframed. The framed canvas option adds a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
