This Panama City travel poster looks straight down a pair of canal locks. In the foreground a red-hulled cargo ship sits low in the near chamber, flanked by concrete walls and the rail tracks of the towing locomotives. Palm-covered green banks rise on both sides, and the glass towers of the city skyline close the horizon under tall white clouds.
About the artwork
The scene is drawn as flat vector shapes with fine linework in the mid-century travel-poster manner: teal water, deep charcoal lock walls, jungle greens, and one hot red hull as the single warm accent against a pale blue sky. The high viewpoint sends the twin chambers away in steep perspective toward the skyline, so the eye travels from the ship to the towers in one move. The city and country names are printed across the sky in condensed white capitals, PANAMA CITY above PANAMA. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- An engineering view — the ship inside the lock chamber is the subject, not a generic waterfront.
- Teal and red palette — cool water and green banks with one red hull to anchor the eye.
- Depth that carries — the steep perspective reads from across a room and still rewards a close look at the gates and rails.
- A specific souvenir — for anyone who has transited the canal or stood watching a ship rise between the walls.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The teal water and deep green banks settle easily on white, warm grey or soft sage walls, and the charcoal of the lock walls makes a black frame look deliberate rather than heavy. Light oak keeps the palette fresh and coastal, while walnut pushes the same print toward a study. The red hull picks up a rust or terracotta cushion, which is why it works above a cream sofa as readily as over a wooden home-office desk.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What are the rails running along the lock walls? They carry the electric towing locomotives that keep a ship centred as it moves through the chambers, and they run down both sides of the near lock in this drawing.
What size should I get? Above a sofa or bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" holds the wall. For a desk, shelf or gallery grouping, 12" x 18" and 16" x 24" are the easiest to place.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas arrive unframed. The framed canvas option adds a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
