This Naples, Italy watercolor print shows Castel dell'Ovo on its rocky island in the Bay of Naples, with Mount Vesuvius rising across the water. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Naples, Italy, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
Deep blue sea is laid down in thick horizontal strokes with white paper between, the castle's tufa walls are washed in yellow-beige with ink outlines, and Vesuvius is a thin blue-violet wash. Mediterranean blue leads the palette, with castle beige, umbrella-pine green, violet for the volcano and pink bougainvillea in the left corner. The castle sits left of center in the middle ground, the twin-peaked volcano rises in the back left, and the curving Via Caracciolo seafront with pastel buildings leads to Castel Sant'Elmo on the hill at right. A small harbor, umbrella pines and balconies hung with laundry fill the foreground, and a long drip falls from the lower left edge. The light suggests early summer. "NAPLES" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Laundry on the balconies. Washing hangs from balconies above the little harbor.
- Wooden gozzo boats. Blue-and-white gozzo boats rest at the dock as a white ferry heads out.
- Volcano on the horizon. Vesuvius stands in soft violet behind the castle.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.

Styling it at home
Deep blues with sandy beige suit a coastal living room, a kitchen or a hallway with white walls. Give it to someone with family from Naples or a friend planning a trip to southern Italy.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Naples, Italy? No. This is an artistic interpretation of Naples, Italy. The castle's link to the shore is simplified, so it appears to sit on its own rocky island.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "NAPLES," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
