A Mount Fuji ukiyo-e print for a living room that can take strong contrast. Fuji is drawn in black and white, woodblock-style, in front of a large red sun, with a red chrysanthemum pattern, black-and-white waves at its foot and a small dragon in an upper corner. It is bold, graphic and full of detail.
About the artwork
The palette is black, white, red and cream. Mount Fuji and the waves at its base are drawn in black and white woodblock-style line, set against a large red sun and a red chrysanthemum pattern on a cream ground. A small dragon sits in an upper corner, and a red and black vertical bar adds a poster edge. The lettering reads FUJISAN, 富士山 and TOKYO 3776; 3,776 m is the height of Fuji, Japan's highest peak. A further line, 富士箱根伊豆国立公園, completes it. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- A number that means something. 3776 in the lettering is the height of Mount Fuji in meters, the highest peak in Japan.
- Red against black and white. The big red sun and red chrysanthemums sit behind a monochrome mountain, so the print reads from across the room.
- A dragon to find. A small dragon in an upper corner is easy to miss at first and rewards a second look.
- Waves and mountain in one. Black-and-white waves at the base of Fuji join two classic ukiyo-e subjects in a single image.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Hang it in a living room with white, cream or charcoal walls and dark wood furniture. The contrast is strong enough for a large wall: 24" x 36" over a sofa, or 30" x 40" on a wide open wall. A black solid wood floating frame repeats the black line work. Pair it with a red cushion or a black ceramic lamp so the red sun has company in the room.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What does 3776 mean on this print? It is the height of Mount Fuji, 3,776 m, Japan's highest peak. It appears in the lettering as TOKYO 3776.
Where is the dragon? A small dragon sits in an upper corner of the image. It is small, so it shows best at 24" x 36" or larger.
Is it too busy for a small room? It is detailed, but the black, white and red keep it orderly. In a smaller living room, 18" x 24" over a console keeps the balance.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.
