The Malecon, Havana Cuba Travel Wall Art

This Havana Malecon poster puts you on the seawall itself. A weathered concrete parapet runs from the bottom corner into the distance, and a wall of white surf bursts over it from the deep blue water on the right. On the road behind the wall a turquoise and a red classic car roll past, an ornate street lamp leans in at the top left, and the pale waterfront terraces curve away into the haze.

About the artwork

Painterly brushwork over a limited screen-print palette: the sea is built from stacked bands of navy, petrol and teal, the spray from broken white and pale grey strokes with visible grain. Warm sand, cream and bleached yellow carry the seawall and the receding buildings, so the cool water reads even colder beside them. The composition is a strong diagonal, wall from lower left to centre right, water filling the right half, city compressed along the horizon. The lettering reads HAVANA above CUBA in white capitals. Questions people ask

Why does the print say Havana rather than Malecon? The lettering names the city, and the Malecon is the seawall and waterfront road that runs along its northern edge, which is what the picture shows. Our other Havana print is a different scene entirely, an inland street of pink and yellow colonial terraces with the Capitolio dome behind it and three classic cars parked at the kerb, with no sea in the frame.

What size should I get? Above a sofa or bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" holds the wall. For a desk, shelf or gallery grouping, 12" x 18" and 16" x 24" are the easiest to place.

Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas arrive unframed. The framed canvas option adds a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
