A Maldives travel poster seen from the air, low enough to count the thatched roofs. A timber walkway branches out from a palm-covered island and strings a village of overwater villas across the lagoon, each one standing on stilts in water that runs from pale mint in the shallows to deep navy at the reef edge.
About the artwork
The whole picture is an aerial plan and the drawing leans on that: every villa is seen from above with its own pitched thatch roof, small deck and ladder to the water, while the boardwalk cuts a warm brown diagonal across the cool lagoon. Colour is graded in wide steps rather than blended, so the reef reads as distinct shelves of turquoise, aqua and dark blue with faint coral shadows beneath. Top left, a palm-covered beach anchors the frame. The lettering reads MALDIVES above ASIA.
Why you'll love it
- A rare overhead viewpoint with a map-like quality.
- Paper, matte canvas or framed canvas with hardware already fitted.
- Thirteen sizes from 8 x 12 inches up to 30 x 40 inches.
- Made to order, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
Where it works at home
Almost the entire surface is water, so this behaves like a large block of colour and wants a plain, light wall. It looks right in a bedroom or a bathroom, and above a bath or a long white vanity the horizontal boardwalk lines echo the fittings. In a living room, hang it where afternoon light falls across it — the graded blues shift between daylight and lamplight.
Sizes and materials
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Thirteen sizes are available, from 8 x 12 inches up to a 30 x 40 inch statement piece, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. Every piece is made to order.
Shipping and care
Each piece is printed and finished after the order is placed, then shipped in protective packaging — paper prints rolled in a rigid tube, canvas and framed canvas boxed with corner guards. Keep the artwork out of direct sunlight and wipe framed canvas with a dry, soft cloth. Paper prints are best handled by the edges until they are framed.
Questions
Which material should I choose? Paper is the most affordable option and lets you pick your own frame. Matte canvas adds depth and needs no glass. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang and is the usual choice for a feature wall.
Will the colours match what I see on screen? Printing is colour-managed, so the artwork stays very close to the preview. Paper reads slightly softer than canvas, which holds a touch more contrast.
Is this a specific resort? No. It is an illustrated Maldivian overwater village rather than a portrait of a named property, so no resort branding appears anywhere in the artwork. That also means it works as a memento of a trip to any atoll rather than only one island.
