This Las Cruces watercolor print shows the Basilica of San Albino on Mesilla Plaza, with the jagged Organ Mountains rising behind. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Old Mesilla, not an exact view.
About the artwork
Fine ink lines trace the brick bell towers, arched doorways and gazebo railings, and the plaza pavers are washed in soft pinkish brown. The mountains are layered violet-pink with ink ridges, and long red and green drips run from both lower corners. The palette is adobe beige and brown, violet-pink peaks and cottonwood green, with red chile ristras, red geraniums and a white gazebo as accents. The twin-towered basilica stands in the left half, seen across the plaza from the south, with the white gazebo bandstand middle right. Adobe buildings with wooden portals and hanging ristras line both sides, and a brick plaza with benches and potted flowers fills the foreground during the early autumn chile harvest. "LAS CRUCES" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Chile harvest color. Strings of red chile ristras hang from the portals and market stalls.
- Mariachi on the plaza. A three-piece mariachi band plays beside the gazebo while people stroll the plaza.
- Southwest desert accents. Yucca and red geraniums in the foreground frame the scene with a warm Southwest look.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Its adobe beige, chile red and violet tones suit a Southwest-style living room, kitchen or entryway with terracotta, turquoise or woven textiles. Give it to someone who loves New Mexico, or keep it as a souvenir of a fall visit to Old Mesilla.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Las Cruces? No. It is an artistic interpretation of Mesilla Plaza and the Organ Mountains, painted in a warm watercolor-and-ink style.
What text is printed on it? Only the name "LAS CRUCES," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
