This Chichen Itza travel poster looks up at El Castillo from the edge of the jungle. Fan palms, agave spikes and fallen limestone blocks crowd the foreground, a rust-orange tree leans in from the left, and the stepped pyramid rises corner-on above the canopy, one face washed apricot by low sun, the other cool slate blue in shadow.
About the artwork
Layered halftone shading over flat vector blocks gives every course of stone its own grain, so the staircase reads as hundreds of separate limestone slabs rather than one smooth ramp. The palette runs teal and petrol blue in the sky, apricot and sand on the lit face, slate blue-grey on the shaded one, with cream cumulus stacked to the right and olive, pine and rust foliage below. A pale cream sun disc sits behind the lettering, which reads CHICHEN ITZA above a smaller, wide-spaced MEXICO. Portrait, 2:3.
Why you'll love it
- Split light — the apricot sunlit face set against the slate blue shaded face gives the print depth from right across a room.
- Jungle foreground — palms, agave and tumbled stone blocks frame the base instead of an empty plaza.
- Maya architecture — a landmark of the Maya city of Chichen Itza, drawn corner-on so the terraces and the stair balustrade stay readable.
- Warm and cool together — teal sky against warm stone lets it sit beside both cool and warm wall colours.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4–A1 for European frames.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
The apricot and sand stone pulls warmth out of clay, terracotta and putty walls, while the teal sky stops the whole thing tipping rustic. On plain white it stays graphic and clean; on a deep petrol or olive wall the cream clouds do the lifting. Light oak flatters the sunlit face, walnut deepens the rust-orange tree at the left edge. It works above a cream sofa with a burnt-orange cushion, or on a home-office wall where the green foreground echoes a real plant.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Why does the print say Chichen Itza rather than El Castillo? The lettering names the Maya city; El Castillo is the stepped pyramid at its centre, and that is the building drawn here.
What size should I get? Above a sofa or bed, 24" x 36" or 30" x 40" holds the wall. For a desk, shelf or gallery grouping, 12" x 18" and 16" x 24" are the easiest to place.
Does it come framed? Paper and matte canvas arrive unframed. The framed canvas option adds a solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
