A retro desert print: a deep brown playing card in the shape of an ace, holding one tall column cactus and one low cactus, inside a plain cream border.
About the artwork
Two cacti, one tall and one squat, and the card format gives them a reason to stand next to each other. The tall one runs almost the full height of the card, so the low one has to sit off to the side — and that asymmetry is what stops the design being a diagram. Everything is drawn in flat cream on brown with no shading, so the plants read as shapes cut out of the card rather than objects on it.
Why you'll love it
- Two heights, one card. The mismatch is deliberate and it is what makes it look drawn.
- Flat retro colour. Cream on deep brown, no gradients, no shading.
- A dark anchor. The brown card grounds a wall of pale prints.
- Desert without a sunset. No orange sky, no silhouette cliché.
- Built as a set. Every design in the western series shares one palette and one paper, so any combination lines up.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Desert prints hold up in rooms with a lot of green in them — plants, a sage wall, olive upholstery — because the subject already belongs there. Hang it with the other ace card designs for a run of three. White frames maximise the contrast; natural oak warms the brown.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What size should I get? It scales well — flat shapes stay clean at 8" x 12". Go large if it is hanging alone.
Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.
Does it match the other card prints? Yes — same card shape and border, so a set of three lines up exactly.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
