A Japanese landscape wall art print in woodblock style: a tiered castle on stone walls rises beside red maples on a lake, as a covered boat with lanterns glides toward a large red sun.
About the artwork
The castle roofs are drawn in deep blue-green with gold ornaments on the ridges, set on heavy stone walls that drop straight into the water. Red maple trees crowd around it and their colour runs across the lake in soft reflections. A boatman in a straw hat steers a roofed boat hung with red lanterns, and a sailboat drifts on the far horizon. At the upper right the text reads 松城秋色, “autumn colours of the pine castle”, then 令和六年春, spring of Reiwa 6 (2024), and a signature, 山本春水, with a seal; a second seal sits at the lower left. The scene is autumn even though the date says spring, exactly as printed. The signature is part of the design; this is a new artwork in the woodblock style, not an antique print. Ukiyo-e style. Landscape.
Why you'll love it
- A strong silhouette. Castle, maples and red sun read from across the room.
- Story in the water. A lantern boat and a distant sail add scale.
- Rich autumn palette. Vermilion, teal and warm beige.
- Built wide. Drawn as a landscape, not a vertical design turned on its side.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. 12" x 8" through 54" x 36", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 18" x 12" to 48" x 32".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 18" x 12" to 48" x 32".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Give it a wide wall above a sofa, a sideboard or a desk. Natural oak frames suit the beige paper; black frames make the red sun pop.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this a real castle? It is an imagined castle; the title names no real place.
Is it an antique print? No. The signature and date are part of the design, and it is printed to order.
What size works above a sofa? 36" x 24" or larger keeps the boat and lanterns readable.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
