This Annapolis watercolor print shows the Maryland State House dome rising above Main Street, with sailboats packed into Ego Alley at City Dock. It is an artistic, watercolor-style interpretation of Annapolis, not an exact view of the city.
About the artwork
The water in the narrow inlet is a blue wash with red and white reflections from boats and buildings, and fine ink lines draw the masts and rooftops. Thin orange-red drips run at the lower left, with pink, orange and blue splatter around the edges. Brick red rowhouses, water blue and white domes and hulls make up the palette, with navy sail covers, awnings and red, white and blue flags as accents. The State House sits at the center on the hilltop, the spire of St. Anne's Church rises on the left and Main Street climbs up the middle. Sailboats and motorboats crowd both sides of the wooden docks in the foreground on a midsummer day. "ANNAPOLIS" is set in spaced navy capitals across the top.
Why you'll love it
- Boats up close. Sailboats and motorboats fill the inlet, with a sailor coiling rope on deck.
- Hilltop dome. The white State House dome caps the hill, with the church spire beside it.
- Small-town charm. Ducks paddle in the water, flags hang from the rowhouses and red flowers sit outside the shops.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Red, white and navy make it a natural fit for a nautical bedroom, a lake-house living room or a study with brass and wood. Give it to a sailor, a Naval Academy family or a couple who married in Annapolis.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
Is this an exact view of Annapolis? No. It is an artistic interpretation of downtown Annapolis. Some details, such as the dome's roof color and the people around the dock, are simplified.
What text is printed on it? Only the city name, "ANNAPOLIS," set in spaced navy capitals across the top. There is no other lettering on the print.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Materials
Three ways to print it.
Same artwork, same colour-managed printing — the material decides how it hangs and how much wall it holds.
Fine art paper
Thick 200 gsm archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks.
- The most affordable option, and the one to pick if you already own a frame.
- Reads slightly softer than canvas.
- Ships rolled in a rigid tube.
Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.
- Holds a touch more contrast than paper.
- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
- White and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
- The usual choice for a feature wall — nothing to assemble.
