A patience kanji print for the wall behind a desk where deadlines pile up. 忍耐 is set large in black on cream, with NINTAI and patience written underneath and a red seal finishing the sheet. It asks for one thing, plainly, every time you look up from the screen.
About the artwork
Black characters, a cream ground, a red seal and a smaller round seal: that is the full palette. The two characters 忍耐 carry most of the weight, heavy and solid. Beneath them, NINTAI gives the Japanese reading and patience gives the meaning, in smaller letters that do not compete. Nothing else is drawn, so the word stands on its own in the middle of the calm cream space. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- A word for working days. Patience is a practical thing to see above a desk, especially during long projects.
- The translation is on the print. NINTAI and patience sit under the kanji, so guests can read it at a glance.
- Heavy strokes, light room. The dense black characters give weight to a pale wall without needing a big size.
- A red seal as a finishing mark. The small red seal adds one warm point to an otherwise black-and-cream sheet.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
Hang it in a home office on a white, cream or pale stone wall, centered over the desk at 18" x 24". A natural wood floating frame suits an oak or bamboo desk; espresso suits darker furniture. In a bedroom, 16" x 24" on a narrow wall beside the closet works well. Pair it with a simple mountain print in grays to keep the corner calm and mostly monochrome.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
How do you pronounce 忍耐? It is read nintai, which is printed under the characters along with the English word patience.
Which size fits a small office? 16" x 24" or 18" x 24" fits most small offices. Go to 24" x 36" only if the wall above the desk is wide and empty.
Black or wood frame for this print? Black repeats the ink and looks crisp. Natural or espresso wood makes the print warmer and suits wooden desks.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

- Reads slightly softer than canvas.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.
- No glass, so no glare — good for bright rooms.

- Boxed with corner guards.
Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
