About the artwork

Olive gold on pale yellow, one ink throughout. A cluster of small star-shaped tubular blooms opens across the frame with unopened buds still tucked in among them, so the sprig looks caught mid-season rather than posed. A fern ornament fills the lower-left corner and the 1¢ denomination sits in a circle opposite.
