A teal and gold wave print for a bathroom that wants to feel settled. Tier upon tier of waves in turquoise, navy and green are edged in pale gold, all inside a thin border. KINKOU, meaning balance, is lettered on the sheet. It is cool, even and steady, the kind of picture that slows the morning down.
About the artwork
Turquoise, navy and green carry the waves, and each tier is edged in pale gold so the layers separate cleanly. The waves are stacked in tiers and drawn woodblock-style, with no single crest taking over. A thin border runs around the image. The lettering reads KINKOU alongside the Japanese characters for balance, which suits the even, steady rhythm of the pattern. Portrait.
Why you'll love it
- A word worth reading daily. KINKOU means balance, a small reminder in the room where the day starts and ends.
- Cool colors for water. Turquoise, navy and green feel at home near tile, glass and running water.
- Pale gold edging. Gold lines along each tier add warmth and pick up brass taps or fixtures.
- Even rhythm. Tiered waves with no single focal point keep a small room feeling calm.
- Made to order. Printed after you buy, colour-managed, never warehoused.
Sizes and materials
- Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Thirteen sizes in all: 8" x 12" through 30" x 40", plus A4–A1.
- Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural. 12" x 16" to 30" x 40".
- Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.
Styling it at home
In a bathroom, hang it above the bath or opposite the mirror, on white, pale gray or soft green walls. It suits green or teal tile, brass fixtures and a light wood or white vanity. Choose 16" x 24" above a bath or 12" x 18" beside a mirror. A white or natural solid wood floating frame keeps the thin border crisp. Pair it with a trailing plant on a shelf or a brass soap dish to echo the pale gold edges.
Shipping and care
Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.
Questions people ask
What does the word KINKOU refer to? KINKOU means balance, and the Japanese characters on the print carry the same meaning.
Does this print suit a green bathroom? Yes. The green and turquoise in the waves sit comfortably with green or teal tile, and the pale gold edges pick up brass fixtures.
Which size should I choose above a bath? 16" x 24" suits most bath walls. If the wall is wide and bare, 18" x 24" gives a little more presence.
Print & materials
Every design is made to order on one of three materials:
- Fine art paper — thick archival gallery-grade paper with a smooth matte finish, printed with fade-resistant pigment inks. The choice if you already own a frame.
- Matte canvas — gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box. No glass, no glare.
- Framed canvas in white, black, espresso or natural wood — a slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted. Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms; white and black sit better in minimalist and monochrome spaces.
Sizes run from 8 x 12 inches up to large statement pieces, plus A4, A3, A2 and A1 for standard European frames. The exact sizes available for this design are listed in the Size menu above.

Matte canvas
Gallery-wrapped over a solid wood stretcher, ready to hang straight out of the box.

Framed canvas
A slim solid-wood floating frame with the hanging hardware already fitted, in white, black, espresso or natural wood.
- Natural and espresso suit warm, timber-heavy rooms.
