About the artwork

Hard-edged vector shapes, with the water built from dozens of stacked tonal bands rather than gradients, which is what gives the swell its weight. The palette is cold and tight: petrol and teal blue for the sea, deep slate green in the troughs, cool grey and blue-grey for the granite bedding planes, chalk white for foam and spray, and one warm note in the small green lawn beside the tower.
