A Cape Flattery Washington poster from the end of the boardwalk at the northwest corner of the Lower 48. A cedar railing and deck run across the bottom right corner, putting you on the viewing platform. Below and ahead, the ocean grinds sea caves into a tan headland, spruce leans out over the cliff edge, and two sea stacks sit offshore — one crowned with a single wind-shaped tree.

About the artwork

Painted in layered detail rather than flat vector shapes. The water is the most worked part: dozens of separate swell lines and foam ribbons curl around the rocks in white, pale jade and deep cerulean, each drawn individually rather than repeated. The cliffs are built from vertical fracture faces in buff, ochre and warm brown, with dark hollow mouths where the caves cut in and green moss creeping down the shaded seams. Above them, near-black Sitka spruce in stacked ranks. The sky is a clean mid-blue with cream and grey cumulus banked on the horizon, and a far forested headland fades to grey-blue on the left. The boardwalk timber is the one warm foreground note. Lettering runs across the bottom in white condensed capitals: CAPE FLATTERY, with WASHINGTON below. Portrait, 2:3.

Why you'll love it

  • You are standing on the platform — the railing in the corner makes it a view someone had, not a drone shot.
  • The sea caves are drawn, not implied — you can see the hollows the swell has cut into the headland.
  • The far northwest corner — this is the most northwesterly point of the contiguous United States, and it looks the part.
  • Blue that earns its place — cerulean and jade against ochre rock, rather than the flat single blue most coastal prints settle for.

Sizes and materials

  • Paper — archival matte, rolled and unframed. Nine sizes from 8" x 12" to 30" x 40", plus A4-A1 for European frames.
  • Matte canvas — stretched on a wooden bar, no glare, ready to hang.
  • Framed canvas — solid wood floating frame in white, black, espresso or natural.
  • Pigment-based archival inks, rated to resist fading for decades indoors.

Styling it at home

Cerulean and ochre is a warm-cool pair, so this print sits happily on white, pale grey or a sandy beige wall without needing anything else on it. Natural oak picks up the boardwalk timber and the cliff colour; white frames push the blues forward. It works well in a bathroom or a bedroom, and the sunlit corner room with two windows in the photographs above shows how daylight lifts the surf.

Shipping and care

Unframed prints ship rolled in a protective tube. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang. Keep prints out of direct sunlight to protect the colour, and dust canvas with a dry, soft cloth.

Questions people ask

What size should I get? The individually drawn swell lines are worth seeing, so 24" x 36" on a main wall. 16" x 24" still carries the cliffs, the caves and the boardwalk clearly, and pairs well with another coastal print.

Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and rolled. Framed canvas arrives ready to hang in white, black, espresso or natural.

Where is Cape Flattery? At the tip of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington, beyond Neah Bay, on Makah tribal land. The boardwalk in the print is the trail out to the viewing decks, and visitors need a Makah recreation permit to walk it.
