About the artwork

The only night piece in the series, and it is built on a single contrast: warm amber against deep navy. The Parliament's neo-Gothic detail — the arcaded ground floor, the pinnacles, the ribbed dome — is picked out in lit ochre and cream, while everything not touched by light drops to slate blue. Peach-lit cumulus piles behind the roofline and keeps the top third from going flat. The river is worked in short horizontal strokes of navy and gold so the reflection reads as moving water. Flat vector illustration throughout, no photographic glow. Title in wide-tracked uppercase with Hungary beneath, inside a thin white margin. Portrait, 2:3.

Styling it at home

Give it a dark or saturated wall and it comes alive — navy, forest, charcoal, or a deep green. On a bright white wall the navy reads as a heavy block, so if that is the wall you have, choose a white or natural frame to soften the edge. It is a strong choice for a study, a dining room used mostly in the evening, or above a bar cabinet. Brass and dark wood are its natural companions.

What size should I get? Above a console or desk, 12" x 18" or 16" x 24". Above a sofa, bed or mantel, go 24" x 36" or larger so the print holds the wall.

Does it come framed? Paper prints ship unframed and fit standard frames. Choose a framed canvas if you would rather skip the framing shop.

Will the dark areas print muddy? No. The navy is a flat colour rather than a photographic shadow, so it holds separation from the black of a frame.
